Firearms and shotguns (by way of hire) can be provided by prior arrangement from International Hunting Scotland at additional cost to the client at the point of booking at £50.00 per day per client. Visitors Permits for clients bringing firearms/shotguns into the UK can be arranged by us at additional cost to the client at £100.00 per applicant. All applications must be received by us at least 8 weeks prior to the departure date of the client. Applications are subject to strict timescales by the relevant Police Authorities, for which International Hunting Scotland cannot be held liable.

Insurance:

All sporting clients must have personal liability insurance (often referred to as hunting or shooting insurance) to take part in hunting or shooting activities with International Hunting Scotland. The minimum amount of cover must not be less than £10,000,000 GBP (ten million pounds) in respect of risk of accident, death, injury or damage to themselves or other third parties, and public liability. The insurance must be valid in the country of the designated services appointed to that client. It is the client sole responsibility to ensure that this insurance is valid. Without proof of insurance the client may not take part in the hunt.

International Hunting Scotland has public liability insurance for our own purposes connected with our conduct in relation to services provided to you where we are directly involved. Sporting areas/estates and other service providers have the responsibility to ensure that they have sufficient public and personal liability insurance in place covering their activities in connection with your sport & activities carried out in their areas.

Travel & Other Insurance:

If for any reason there are unforeseen travel disruptions or cancelations affecting the arrival of clients, we cannot be held responsible. Clients are highly recommended to ensure that they have suitable insurance cover for such disruptions/cancellations.

International Hunting Scotland may not be held liable for poor or inclement weather that prevents hunting/shooting/fishing on any given day. By the very nature of field sports undertaken in areas such as the Scottish Highlands, they frequently take place in the Autumn or Winter months, when poor/inclement weather may be a factor. We highly recommend that if any of our clients are concerned that this may be a barrier to progression on any hunting/shooting/fishing days, that they insure themselves against such an event. We do not provide poor/inclement weather insurance policies but will “signpost” clients to such services, should they wish to consider this insurance product.

We do not issue any form of “credit note” or refund for such instances. The full invoice amount paid by the client will be retained by us as the services agreed will already have been secured by us. Neither International Hunting Scotland, the shoot, shoot owner, fishing venue owner nor agent accept any legal responsibility to reimburse the client in the event of cancellation under this clause.

Trophy Shipment:

The shipment of “trophies” harvested during hunting and shooting visits organised and arranged by us (International Hunting Scotland) in the UK, are subject to strict legislation and legal requirements. All trophies leaving the UK and entering or transiting through the European Union (EU), must have the relevant – Export Health certificate for the export of treated game trophies through European Union certificate 8310. This certificate meets the legal requirements monitored and enforced by the Department of Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the Animal & Plant Health Agency (APHA).

All trophies must be stored, cleaned, and treated in accordance with this certificate, which is completed and signed by a state registered veterinary, who examines and checks all “trophies” individually to ensure they meet the requirements as contained in certificate 8310.

International Hunting Scotland provide a service that connects all clients to a reputable global shipping agent on occasions where the client wishes to transport “trophies” out with the UK. This agent will coordinate cleaning, preparation, and examination of such “trophies” and ensure all legal requirements are met prior to any shipment taking place.

Without exception, we do not condone or recommend that any of our clients attempt to transport trophies out of the UK without following the strict requirements set out by DEFRA & APHA as detailed above. Full guidance and legal requirements can be found on the following link:

https://www.gov.uk/export-health-certificates/export-treated-game-trophies-and-other-preparations-of-birds-and-ungulates-to-or-transit-through-the-european-union-certificate-8310#:~:text=Contents&text=If%20you%27re%20in%20England,to%20export%20to%20the%20EU.

Shipment of trophies and the associated costs are subject to several factors such as trophy type, size, and weight. We do not set such shipping costs and do not provide this service ourselves. We use a recognised and trusted agency that deal directly with our clients. We (International Hunting Scotland) accept no liability for the preparation, examination, and shipment of such “trophies” by third parties or clients.

Hunting/Shooting:

International Hunting Scotland are unable to provide guarantees about the number or quality of species to be culled or shot during a client’s sporting day. By the very nature of hunting/shooting, animals/birds are wild and unpredictable, we are unable to guarantee that sporting will be successful and as such we exclude liability for any misrepresentation of the chances of success that may occur.

In respect of deer species, the prices quoted to the client are for each opportunity which has been presented to and accepted by the client, regardless of whether the client misses the targeted animal. Wounded and lost or missed deer must be paid for in full plus the loss of meat revenue as assessed by the Game Keeper.

Fishing:

International Hunting Scotland are unable to provide guarantees about the number or quality of fish caught during a client’s day. By the very nature of the sport, fish are wild and unpredictable, we are unable to guarantee that fishing will be successful and as such we exclude liability for any misrepresentation of the chances of success that may occur.

Safety & fitness to participate:

All instructions and decisions given by appointed Game Keeper, shoot organisers, instructor, guide at appointed hunting/shooting/fishing venues are final. Failure to comply with such instructions or decisions may result in the cancellation of the booking with no right to a refund or compensation.

We reserve the right to cancel a sporting day or exclude a particular client if we, the appointed Game Keeper, shoot organisers, instructor, or guide believes that the client is not physically fit for the day (which also includes through intoxication – drink or drugs or any other reason) or that the client may pose a safety risk to themselves or others.

By the very nature of the terrain and geography of some of the areas selected for hunting/shooting/fishing, a level of personal fitness is required (areas such as, but not restricted to – open hill ground when hunting for deer, rough shooting, or secluded fishing venues etc).

Similarly, if a client decides not to commence or continue during their selected sporting activity for such reasons, which are out of our control, no refund or compensation will be given in these instances. Clients should ensure that they are aware of the type of hunting/fishing they are undertaking in the areas selected by them at the point of booking with us. If in doubt, they should consult with us at that time. For the reasons highlighted here, it is a requirement that clients will disclose to International Hunting Scotland, any issues with fitness to undertake the type of sport they are engaging in.

Neither International Hunting Scotland, the shoot, shoot owner, fishing venue owner nor agent accept any legal responsibility to reimburse the client in the event of such instances under this clause.

Hunting/Shooting/Fishing cancellation:

We (International Hunting Scotland or our representative) reserve the right to cancel the hunt/shoot/fishing:

  1. Before the hunt/shoot/fishing begins, in the event of adverse weather conditions, storm damage, mist/poor visibility, flood or heavy snowfall or if for any other reason including but not limited to the activities of others (e.g. demonstrators/saboteurs) if we consider it unsafe or impractical to commence or continue.
  2. If on or before the date of the hunt/shoot/fishing, any Government agency shall have banned hunting or the shooting/fishing for/of species: In such event, at our absolute discretion, may make a deduction from the price paid by the client, or offer an alternative days shooting/hunting/fishing.

Neither International Hunting Scotland, the shoot, shoot owner, fishing venue owner nor agent accept any legal responsibility to reimburse the client in the event of cancellation under this clause.

Indemnity:

The client indemnifies International Hunting Scotland against all damage proceedings, cost expense claims and demands arising from the exercise of the rights granted by this agreement (as contained in the terms & conditions and booking confirmation). But this provision shall not exclude or limit those third parties providing such services on our behalf, for death or injury resulting from their own or that of their appointed agents (excluding International Hunting Scotland), employees or sub-contractor negligence.

The client irrevocably agrees to indemnify us and keep us indemnified from and against all and any loses, costs, claims, liabilities, damages, demands and expenses suffered or incurred by us, arising directly or indirectly from any act or omission by you or your guests in who’s whole behalf you have made the booking, including but not limited to any failure to perform or discharge any of these terms (or any grounds whether known to you or your guests, on whose behalf you have made the booking or not).
